CORONAVIRUS – COVID 19 – a novel (new) virus that was first noted to infect humans since December 2019. The first patient diagnosed with the virus was seen in the Wuhan Province of China.
Symptoms begin anywhere from 2-7 days after you “catch” the virus. The most common symptoms are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. But people also have runny nose, diarrhea, and a wide array of other symptoms. Every patient will have a different presentation and progression of the disease, including cases where the patient is asymptomatic (does not exhibit any symptoms).
Timely testing is important to understand infectivity and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Vaccines have recently been approved for COVID-19 on an Emergency-Use-Application (EUA) only. This can help reduce the severity of symptoms.
